Series 1 - Celebrating all things rural

About me

Founder of Farmette | Rural Storyteller | Advocate for Britain’s Countryside

Tamara Warhurst is the founder of Farmette, a fast-growing storytelling platform dedicated to celebrating, protecting, and giving voice to Britain’s rural communities. Rooted in lived experience rather than romanticised imagery, her work brings nuance, honesty and humanity to the realities of country life.

Raised between Yorkshire, Wales and Dorset, Tamara grew up immersed in rural communities where connection was not optional but essential. From multigenerational farm life in Wales - lambing through Easter holidays, working in the dairy and learning the realities of birth, loss, and responsibility at a young age - to close-knit village high streets where everyone knew one another, her childhood shaped a profound understanding of how the countryside truly functions: through people showing up for each other and everyone having a role.

That understanding underpins Farmette’s mission. Tamara founded the platform to shine a light on the individuals who quietly carry the weight of rural Britain - farmers, growers, craftspeople, families and makers whose stories are rarely told, yet whose work sustains landscapes, traditions and food systems. Farmette spans documentary-style film which brings authentic stories to life and builds connections with rural communities, the first series ‘Celebrating all things rural’ can be found on YouTube. Having now completed this first series, Tamara’s focus has turned to creating this content for rural business, charities, individuals and independent brands.

THE FARMETTE PODCAST:
CONVERSATIONS SHAPED BY RURAL LIFE

farmette-podcast

Following a hugely successful Youtube series ‘Celebrating all things rural’ created by Farmette in 2025, Tamara has seen the growing appetite for authentic story telling. This has led her to an exciting new project, ‘The Farmette Podcast’, launching in 2026.

Tamara will be hosting ‘The Farmette Podcast’, a conversation series with high profile voices from lifestyle, sport, business and culture, exploring how rural life has shaped who they are. Rural voices are too often romanticised, simplified, or shut out of main stream media, while rural communities face growing economic, political, social and environmental pressures. The podcast exists to change that. Real people, real conversations.

Tamara grew up immersed in the countryside of Wales, Yorkshire, and Dorset, the show highlights the significance of the British countryside in shaping communities, livelihoods, and personal stories. Motivated by the increasing challenges faced in rural areas, Tamara  is passionate about showcasing the countryside’s vital role.
